LCA Mission Statement
The Lealman Community Association was formed to improve the
appearance of the Lealman Community and provide a voice with which the
Community’s concerns could be brought to the attention of County
government.
The
Lealman Community Association had reformed in October 2000 to address a
wide range of Community problems. When the LCA was reestablished,
it was decided that we would take on any challenge that affected
the Lealman Community. If the problem effected the majority of people
than it was a worthy problem for the Community Association to take on.
We immediately
set out to create a Board of Directors that would represent the
neighborhood issues in each part of, what was then known as,
"Central Lealman". The LCA Board consists of a President, Executive
VP, VP of Operations, Secretary, Treasurer and 7 District
Representatives because we wanted the broadest possible input from the
community.
The Community's
concerns we initially addressed were: high trash costs, street lighting,
green space (for our children to play in), derelict cars strewn around
Lealman and most recently the adverse effects of annexation of
Lealman Fire District properties.
We still have
other major projects that need to be addressed. Open ditches, lack of
curbing, more fire hydrants, housing stock in need of repair, sidewalks
and crime prevention.
We felt, from
the outset, that if it was important to the people of Lealman it was
important for us to address the issue. Our role is not to create issues
but to get the facts and report them to the people and to get a
consensus of what the people want to do.
Some people
don't agree with everything we have tried to do, or in some rare cases
there are those that simply don't agree with anything we do.
Our
responsibility to the community is to provide a forum in which we can
relate the facts effecting the community as we know them and urge the
people of Lealman to verify those facts for themselves and if true, what
do they want to do about it. We also have a responsibility to hear from
the people of Lealman. We respect everyone's opinion, even those
that are contrary to what the majority believe the facts to be.
